Samis evidently experiencing a stressful condition owing to the fact heis not being appreciated in the workplace. The lack of appreciationby the supervisor makes him feel less of himself making him try toexert his feelings of anger towards others. He is seen to engage in aphysical fight with a man at a bar. The decision to participate inthe fight may be attributed to the fact that he is trying to asserthis presence. Further, while at work he is irritable to the rest ofhis co-workers, further confirming the fact that he is irrational andtemperamental.
Distressfulcondition: Sam is working hard to ensure that he gets the attentionof his supervisor. All that he does at work is to get a reaffirmationfrom the supervisor. Also, the fact that he is not appreciated atwork makes him think that he is not good enough hence the harsh wayin which he treats his co-workers.
Temperamental:He is seen to fight people. There is also the need to seek anaudience in the society, where he struggles to live a single wifeafter divorcing his wife. The lonely life could be taking a toll onhim though he has admitted he is willing to settle if he gets theright woman.
Havingdivorced twice, it is evident that Sam has issues when it comes toself-esteem and being accepted by others. Further, there is the ideaof him exchanging careers. It can explain the fact that he is notcontented especially if he was to find himself in a state wherepeople do not accept him.
Also,the lack of appreciation by his supervisor could have affected hisconfidence adversely. For example, initially, the supervisor used toappreciate his efforts and tell him how good was at his work.However, the same is not the case despite the efforts that Sam makestowards getting the attention of his supervisor.
Finally,because there seems to be no one whom Sam looks up to considering thesisters are all married and parents travel a lot, the relationshipwith the therapist is the first step towards his recovery.
